Heat Pump Review: Ideal Logic Air
Published: 6th May 2024 by Daniel

We've been excited to review the Ideal Logic Air since it launched a few months ago.

The Logic Air heat pump range is Ideal's new range of monobloc heat pumps, offering great efficiencies both in heating and hot water. Logic Air is designed to deliver efficient, simple, and reliable low-carbon heating in homes throughout the UK.

We recently became preferred installers and immediately fitted our first system to see how it really performed.

It was considerably easier to install than the alternatives, and we especially liked the Halo monitoring that comes as standard, making post-installation monitoring and settings a breeze.

Technology

They have recently been awarded the most quiet heat pump on the market, and it's clear a lot of thought and consideration has been made to achieve this. Unlike other heat pumps, the fan has specially designed blades which slice through the air, making it almost silent.

The cycle itself works much like all other heat pumps, as shown in the diagram below.

Pre-Plumbed Cylinder

Ideal offers a pre-plumbed cylinder option, which saved us around 2 days on installation, making it an easier and cheaper install for the clients' labor costs. It's a large unit, but comparable to others on the market, such as the Joule Samsung option. The pipework is extremely neat and easy to insulate, with no awkward fittings to the sides or back.

Halo Monitoring

The Halo monitoring system makes it extremely easy to use, either with the supplied stat or via the mobile application. We found it really easy to set up and make changes remotely for the client. The customer also noted he was able to monitor and make changes while on holiday to ensure that when he got home, it was a perfect 21°C throughout the house.

Pricing

Ideal has really done their homework here and priced their units in the lower-mid level to match all customers' budgets. Prices to install the unit only start at around £3,000, including the Government's £7,500 BUS grant.

Conclusion

We think this is going to be the most popular product this year due to its market-leading technology, ease of installation, and price. The after-sales support is based in the UK, and they have a large network of engineers able to attend warranty callouts quickly.
